Wu Shang-Yung was born in 1988 in Taipei, Taiwan. He graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in Painting and Calligraphy at the National Taiwan University of the Arts in 2015 and is currently the director of the Taiwan Visual Arts Association.
The artist has been dedicating himself on painting, image, and installations for years. The subjects of his works often focus on the deconstruction of daily phenomena, and the dialects of inertial logic. He discovers the shift of the essence with non-linear thinking. His expression of work is to combine the eastern Taoism philosophy, visual psychology, and sociology. And he tries to construct a tranquil, poetic surrealistic realm between the multi spiritual senses and the interweaving of routes of thoughts.
His works are collected by the National Father's Memorial Hall, the National Taiwan Museum of Art Education, the Youzhang Art Museum of the National Taiwan University of the Arts, and other art institutions and major private collectors.
